One of the best things about working in Devon is the opportunity to make a real difference within one of the most beautiful parts of the country. Devon is one of the largest counties in the UK, and the only one to have two coastlines. Located in the southwest corner of the UK, Devon is accessible because of its fantastic transport links to the rest of the country.

City Life

If you’re looking for city life, Plymouth and Exeter are both buzzing waterside cities with a good range of independent bars, restaurants, cinemas, theatres, markets, and shops.

Plymouth, otherwise known as Britain's 'Ocean City' is also home to The National Marine Aquarium, the UK's largest aquarium with Great Barrier Reef tanks that invite you to get up close with fascinating, rare marine species. It is proudly part of the Ocean Conservation Trust, a charity dedicated to connecting people with our oceans.

Coast Living

Devon’s two coastlines are made up of the South and North coasts and are home to some of the UK's best surfing beaches. The south coast boasts the ‘English Riviera’ of Torbay, the much sought-after South Hams area, and the fascinating Jurassic coast, with plenty of opportunities to participate in a variety of water sports.

The north coast is adored by beach lovers and surfers. Both coasts are encompassed by the South West Coastal Path and are much-loved by walkers of all levels.

Countryside Living

In Devon, we are lucky to have two of the country’s 15 National Parks where you can go mountain biking, walking, climbing or riding – and more. Dartmoor, with its high granite tors, ancient settlements, and myths and legends makes up a sizeable part of South Devon, and in the north-east Exmoor rolls down to the coast before continuing into Somerset.

Devon has a great variety of countryside, with rivers, hill ranges, and forests. This makes the county a great spot for walking, mountain biking, wildlife watching, and all kinds of outdoor activities.
